This very challenging garden is a very shallow triangular shape with a significant level change. It was overlooked by houses backing on to it and dominated by a row of overgrown limes that had probably once been pleached.
By dividing the garden into 3 with an interesting arrangement of trellis and arches surrounding a simple water feature and creating lots of other interest within the garden the focus has entirely been brought within the space which gives ample areas for leisure. The garden is viewed from the house at all seasons so the planting contains elements for year-round interest.
What the client said
We moved into a house five years ago where the garden was in a terrible condition. It fact this could have been one of the reason why we might not have bought the house, but we did, and the garden was an enormous challenge. We called on a few garden designers, none of which had an answer. We were recommended to Miriam Book.
Miriam presented us with a design which was clever and attractive and dealt with all the difficulties .
The garden is exquisitely planted and has matured beautifully and we get a lot of pleasure out of it.
